= Would you ever pay to have a rank on a dedicated Valheim Server? =

This is all theoretical, by no means am I saying that any server has ever done this to my knowledge, but say you were playing on a dedicated server and you happened to enjoy it, (modded, vanilla, whatever it may be) would you ever pay to support the server, even if it meant not getting anything out of it? That leads me to my second question would you ever pay for a rank if it meant you did get something out of it?
Not, I'd feel I'm wasting money because after I get to best gear there's not really much to do except for building. Maybe if it was more like modded RPG server with much more content. I'm thinking something like old-school paper RPG gamemaster(s) leading small teams with their own villages. But I don't think that would be possible to maintain, especially for a longer time

Not without a mod dev team pumping out custom mods to the server atleast. I agree with you, I've seen a lot servers on the valheim discord boast how their server is as you describe and it leads me to believe they want money or something to keep the server going, I just dont see how someone can manage this all for free. A lot of time spent managing something like that

I pay for one for my friends and I. It's 10 USD a month which is a pretty low cost for me

Most of us have played the game at one point or another. We do the dedicated server so we can all play on our own schedules, while still taking the time to play together. This is great for players like me, who have a pretty crazy work life, but love to hop in and polish off my mead hall for our collective village (like I did tonight, super proud of it lol)

There's also a joy that comes with hopping back on the server and looking at all the funyour friends did while you were out

We have one rule, no boss progression unless everyone is accounted for

There are some servers that require some kind of payment. Usually this means worlds with hand-made dungeons and other locations

With as easy as it is to run multiple dedicated servers from home, no, I wouldn't pay someone for it. And for the servers I run, I would never ask for money from anyone that currently plays on it

IF I wasn't currently hosting Valheim servers for others, and was playing on someone else's server, if they told me I had to pay a fee to support their server, I'd simply host my own server and move on

No. I don’t even like

*playing* on servers with people who aren’t good friends or immediate family. Let alone paying to play on someone else’s. Let alone paying for rank

That isn’t to say I wouldn’t or couldn’t pay to play on a dedicated server with friends/family only. That’s fine. But at that point my rank would be “guy who pays for the server”
