= Manage Satellite Server from Satellite WebUI =

Hi,
I recently configured a Satellite server for my company, everything seems to be working fine

Only thing I found strange was that my Satellite Server appeared to be unregistered on the Satellite WebUI. Is that by design?
Can I manage my satellite server VM updates on Satellite WebUI?

Yeah. Its gotta be tied to cdn to get patches and your repos from Red Hat. So no it can’t patch itself. There is an offline mode. However it makes it very difficult to manage. Its in the documentation

httpsaccess.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.7/html/installing_satellite_server_from_a_disconnected_network/index
Self-subscribed satellite servers were supported on 5.x. As far as I can remember, the practice was not supported on 6.x (httpsaccess.redhat.com/solutions/3360841). If your Satellite points to Red Hat's CDN, it will show unsubscribed in the WebUI

As far as errata on the Satellite is concerned, you'll want to use satellite-maintain. httpsaccess.redhat.com/solutions/4591281
*"Previously, when using yum to update or install packages on the Satellite base operating system might also update the packages related to Red Hat Satellite and resulted in system inconsistency. With this release, Red Hat Satellite prevents users from installing and updating packages with yum. Instead, use foreman-maintain packages install, satellite-maintain packages install, foreman-maintain packages update and satellite-maintain packages update commands. Note that foreman-maintain and satellite-maintain runs the satellite-installer --upgrade script after installing packages and therefore some services are restarted. You can disable this feature and control the stability of the system yourself if you want. This feature is not enabled on Red Hat Capsule Server
