= Question for VPS users =

I know a lot of you rely on Digital Ocean or Vultr or Cloudways, my question is - do you hire someone to set up and maintain your server? Or do you have the knowledge to do it your?
I’ve been looking into switching from Wordpress hosting to a VPS (people say it’s cheaper) but I am overworked with all the technicalities and what happens if something goes wrong with your VPS? For a WP hosting, you can turn to the hosting support team, for VPS, you’re on your own (as far as I know)

Hi mate, you don't need anyone's help to migrate from your current hosting to Cloudways. Once you sign up Cloudways will ask you to install their migration plugin called breeze on your current WordPress site, post installation you need to login to breeze using your new Cloudways account details and input your new WordPress site details and boom! Breeze will migrate your entire site

Here is a easy link to an online tutorial for your reference httpsm.youtube.com/watch?v=TbJRuiObTGU#dialog
I have a self-managed VPS from Digital Ocean running on Ubuntu. It's using CyberPanel as a control panel with an OpenLiteSpeed server for my Wordpress site

I watched a few Youtube tutorials and decided to go for a self-managed VPS instead of shared hosting or managed VPS which is practically double the price

I've secured my Ubuntu server as best as I can: disabled root login & password authentication, changed the default SSH port, set up SSH using Putty, installed firewalls, etc

Both CyberPanel and WordPress are secured as much as possible, too

Sure, there are some technicalities, and you need to learn some commands, but it's not that hard to set up. Everything is out there in terms of how to properly do it

Maintaining is mostly upgrading Ubuntu/Cyberpanel and running malware scans from time to time, imo

I really like how easy it is to navigate through CyberPanel. It's such a nice control panel

I watched a few Youtube tutorials and decided to go for a self-managed VPS instead of shared hosting or managed VPS which is practically double the price

I also do this cause I like playing around and I have a tech background, but for the regular user, paying $20 vs $40 monthly doesn't change anything (+ they can'tit all up)
I use Centminmod + Linode. Nginx + Varnish + Cloudflare
