= Cheap dedicated IPv4 VPS to circumvent CGNAT restrictions? =

The major drawback from T-mobile home internet for me is the lack of dedicated IPv4. Primarily I require IPv4 to monitor my home network and remote access (roadwarrior VPN setup). Anyone here with similar needs that have resorted to workarounds by getting a VPS with IPv4 then setup a tunnel back? If so any affordable providers for it

yes, think there needs to be a master thread for this stuff as it keeps getting posted over and over again. The easiest solution for accessing everything on your network is to run Tailscale (built on Wireguard). Super easy to setup and works extremely well. If this is your only case for IPv4 it shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes to have this running

Tailscale may work for remote access and going to try it. I wanted to have tailscale endpoint (hosted in Azure cloud) route all my traffic but looks like Tailscale doesn't support this
> Several users have requested the ability to route all traffic through a node, at least optionally, in order to protect against hostile local networks and occasionally for regulatory compliance reasons. This ability is planned, for optional activation, in a later release of Tailscale

Looking on AWS I see Lightsail, but I can't find a Free tier, after the trial it is $3.5/month. Can you point me to the free tier offering?
Yes, I have a wireguard vpn between my home computer and my Linode VPS that I already use for some self hosted cloud services (Linode is great by the way). It wasn't too difficult, I set up two peers and then used iptables with NAT rules to forward some traffic between a specific port on my VPS to my home server. I only really use it for homeassistant so I haven't bothered with traefik or similar. The trickiest part was figuring out the MTU setting (mine is at 1350, anything higher tended to cause an unstable connection). It has been rock-stable for my needs

thank you for the tip about MTU = 1350! Do you have the Nokia 5g modem?
I couldnt get wireguard to work reliably until i tried your tip, without setting a MTU on both server and client the tunnel would allow ICMP pings but once you tried iperf tests the tunnel would show it was broken with larger packets

Lowering MTU 1350 allowed it to work

I just signed up for a Vultr VPS. I am still working on setting up the vpn on it to relay everything but the plans start at $2.50/month. Mostly depends on how much bandwidth you use. if anyone wants a free trial, you can use this link to get credits towards the first month

Also, depending on what you are trying to do if you only need one port open, you go down the free argo tunnel route instead of a VPS

u/Lord_kainan - I see that cloudflare post, but I'm having trouble getting it working with T-Mobile Home Internet. Do you have it working for public access to that port tunneling through? Any help you can offer me as to getting it working?
