= HostGator suggesting to upgrade to VPS or dedicated server to solve email issues? =

I've posted here before, but my wife and I have had issues across both of our domain emails going to recipients' Spam folders. After numerous talks with HostGator support, they've said that basically, there's nothing wrong on their end, and that what's happening is that recipients have a high security that is marking our IP as Spam.

Their solution is for us to upgrade our domain to VPS/Dedicated Server so that users don't flag us as Spam. The VPS solution is almost twice what we're paying per month right now. We are currently on a Shared account.

This doesn't exactly sound right to me. Are they trying to just sell me an upgrade, or is this the actual solution that we need? All we want is for users to get our emails again, and we can't really afford to double our hosting costs just to do this. It's very frustrating and overwhelming for us.

Disclaimer: I am not experienced with hosting services and hosting your own mail service

But a reason they may want you to move to a dedicated server is so that you have a dedicated ip address assigned to you only. Your shared server may be shared with someone who has done something to cause your shared ip to be blacklisted

That's what I'm seeing. The thing I'm just cautious of is that it sounds too good to be true. They're saying they could switch us to a business account, which, using their introductory pricing, is likehalf of what we're paying right now, maybe even less. Not sure what the catch is, because I don't want to buy into something and then realize I haven't read the fine print.
