Setting up a new website (that will probably get quite some traffic) i researched various hosting providers. In the past I always used dedicated servers, so I thought this time I might use one of those specialized wordpress hosting providers.

But boy oh boy are they expensive. And I dont mean 20-30%, they are orders of magnitude off!

Here's an example:

A dedicated server from a (german) hosting provider:

i7-8700, 64 GB RAM, 2x1TB SSD, 1GBit/s guaranteed bandwidth, unlimited traffic volume (with NO speed reduction after a certain point), additional backup space, full root access, etc. - for 60 Euro/Month (including domain, email etc etc)

compare that to one of those managed wordpress hosting providers:

I get 5 wordpress installs, 15 GB of storage, 100.000 Visits per month, for 100$/month.

So my question is simple: Why would i ever choose such a service? Am I missing something substantial here?
WP Hosting: Optimized (mostly) for Wordpress. I say mostly because it's optimized for Wordpress but it may not be optimized for "advanced Wordpress". Depending on how far you stray from the standard WP set up, it'll effect how it performs

But you'll be safer knowing that things will (or should) always work in a native WP environment. Plugins will work. Updates will work. Server upgrades (eg, PHP from 5.5 to 7.x) will work. It will be costly for this

But a cloud host or a dedicated host will allow you to overprovision your server to the point where you can be less optimized

In my opinion, once you hit 100k pageviews per month, it's no longer cost effective to go with WP hosting services

Any reason you're not going with a cloud hosting service? Maybe a cloud hosting and a VPS manager if you're not a server admin or don't understand the basics.
