**This is a warning for VPS users. Home stakers are not affected

If your node lives in the cloud on one of the following services:

Amazon AWS

Google Cloud Platform

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Microsoft Azure

Ubuntu has recently released a kernel update for these platforms that contains a significant bug; using Docker on them after this upgrade will cause a Kernel Panic (a Linux "blue screen of death which will effectively disable your node:

httpsbugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-aws-5.13/+bug/1977919/

Until Ubuntu pushes a fix for this, we

**strongly encourage** VPS users on the above platforms to disable automatic updates and cancel any pending reboots:

sudo systemctl stop unattended-upgrades; sudo systemctl disable unattended-upgrades; sudo shutdown -c

Also,

**you should not manually update or reboot your machine until the fix has been deployed ![ ](httpswww.redditstatic.com/desktop2x/img/renderTimingPixel.png)

looks like updates are rolling out now:

From 1 hour ago:

Updated kernels are in flight. The updated kernel packages and versions are:

linux-aws-5.13 - 5.13.0-1029.32~20.04.1 linux-azure-5.13 - 5.13.0-1029.34~20.04.1 linux-gcp-5.13 - 5.13.0-1031.37~20.04.1 linux-oracle-5.13 - 5.13.0-1034.40~20.04.1

The azure and gcp kernels are already in focal-updates. The aws kernel is in focal-proposed and the oracle kernel should be there very soon.
