= Cheap VPS Provider For Offsite Backup =

I am looking for a cheap VPS that can satisfy the following requirements:

- Full root access (e.g. Some Linux VM where I can SSH into and install ZFS to create a backup server for my ZFS snapshots).

- atleast 1 TB block storage.

- Under 25 $ / month.

- Location does not matter

- Bandwidth does not matter

I can only find rsync.net with a 25 $ / month price for SSH capable vm with zfs. Next in line is surprisingly Oracle Cloud for 25,5 $ / month (actually cheaper with the always free tier 200GB included ).

I already compared:

Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, DigitalOcean, Hostwinds,iDrive Compute, Hostgator, BluehostInMotion, Liquid Web, A2 Hosting, InterServer, Kamatera, Hostarmada, Chemicloud, Time4VPS, Webdock, Hostens, Scalahosting.

Any suggestions? :)

I can confirm with Oracle free tier you can create a ZFS file system on a VPS running Ubuntu on their ARM processors, and use it for backing up data with snapshots. This would mean the VPS, up to 4 cores and 24GB of RAM would be free, and you should only have to pay for the additional block storage.

Take a look at hetzner cloud and mount there a hetzner storage box. For example, for 17 euros, you can get a decent vps and 5TB of storage.

httpsbuyvm.com - has my vote. Depending on vm + storage you're looking at sub $10-15 a month

Yeah! I used Backblaze B2 before and uploaded with rclone my zfs snapshots as a file but you can't be 100% certain that the backup is whole and undamaged until you download it and try it and that is why I just have to leave that system and have some other zfs capable storage solution on the server-end for piece of mind :) But otherwise, B2 4 the win.
