= Changes of getting Credit card approved without a credit history? =

I applied for an Amazon pay credit card 2 days back and Kyc is scheduled to be in the coming Saturday. This is my first credit card and was wondering what are the chances of getting this card approved since I have no credit history.

And in case it gets rejected what are some ways to get it approved again or any other card for online spends which easily approves my application?

Edit: It got rejected! The kyc appointment was scheduled to be yesterday but no one showed up and in the evening I got a text that it has been rejected.

You can get a credit card approved without history if you have a FD in Bank. The bank will approve credit limit up to 80-90% of your FD amount. If you repay monthly dues then it will create credit history and your limit might be increased. Typically, this is the most conservative way of building history.

Is this an inherent feature provided by banks?

I've used Paisabazaar's Step Up Card where they provide you with a Credit Card against your FD. But I havent noticed this as an existing feature for banks.

There's not much clarity on the bank portals on how this works. What happens when the FD matures? Is the credit card be still valid or will it also gets closed/becomes inactive?

Also most banks give you the basic credit card if you have a salary account in that bank

Chances of approval are slim.

But if you are adamant on getting this card itself, then I would recommend you to get ICICI Platinum Chip Credit Card which is Life Time Free. There isn't any other great feature in this, but if you use this for few months, chances are that you can get Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card.

At least, that's how it worked for me.

Most likely will be rejected. IMO go to local ICICI bank and apply for the Platinum credit card. Get in their system before your KYC.

Mine was approved in 3rd attempt before which I got myself the platinum card.

If your purchase with Amazon is good or your income is according to their criteria then there's a chance of approval , even if they reject it, it's no big deal .

Wait for 3 months and apply for another card provided you have the income

If your take home salary is above 30k, it will get approved. Secondly if you are an ICICI account holder than also high chances of getting approved.

It is much higher and I also have a icici account ever since I was in school. I'm really hoping i get the cc

Open HDFC account. Keep 40-50K+ for 3 months. You’ll automatically get credit card offer.

Or Axis

They will spam you to death to get their ‘Free’ Indian oil Credit card once you open an account

I have no credit history, no job, nothing. I was extremely lucky I got a call from the ICICI folks itself since I have a bank account with them. They offered me this card and I accepted.

I doubt this one would get approved but you can apply for a card with the bank you have your salary account with.

I'd suggest get it from the bank where salary gets accredited or a secured card backed against FD or maybe the Slice one as most others have suggested (i personally have no clue w BNPL

OP .. watch outAmazon has the shittiest portal In the case it gets rejected (which is likely here) the status loops back to

Schedule KYC and stays like that forever (you may even be able to schedule another one). Unless you talk to the customer care you wouldn't know.. only verbally you are informed that too ..no mail/message trail apparently.

This was the case for my first card. Later while looking for the credit history on CIBIL and likes, this Amazon card had shown up as an inquiry.
