= Best place to buy domain and host for Wordpress? =

Starting a pet project site that will hopefullyenough to generate income off of affiliate links, ads, donations etc about health/fitness/outdoors.

I honestly don’t know where to start. I bought google domains account, but after setting everything up I think I want to refund and go with another provider.

As of now, I like the idea of Gandi to buy my domain, but I need to figure out a host.

Can anyone tell me how easily gandi integrates with Wordpress?

Any advice is welcome. I’m a first timer, and while I am currently at an agency as an SEO specialist, I’m not sure where to start for myself.

Gandi is a good hosting service, but they are a bit pricey if you just want to start. Gandi is good for registering the domain and email hosting, but maybe a good VPS outside Gandi is a good thing for host your WordPress site. I use MVPS and they're okay for a not-so-small website and not so pricey. For the DNS, maybe the best solution is CloudFlare (free and they have a plugin for WordPress to help better the connection).

If you need any help, I'm here on DM.

I think I want to get rid of bluehost and just stick with google domains for ease of access while I’m new. Once I’m out of work I’m gonna see if I can cancel bluehost and switch to a dif provider. I’m leaning towards cloud fare because of their default security practices.

So google is my domain provider, cloud fare would be hosting my server for the domain, and then Wordpress would be what I’m building the site with? I feel like such a noob trying to learn all this. I’ve done seo and content for so long that it’s time I learned all this.

I can migrate my domain bought on google to another provider after a year or close to renewal, right?

For domains I recommended porkbun.com.

Always keep hosting and register seperate.

For hosting its a battlefield of providers with all sorts of varying options.

Top picks really depend on your needs.

Nixihost is not too Bad

Siteground is Deterating imo and can get costly after the discount period

If you want to do as little as possible and have site that up fast and works kinsta is a good option. can be pricy though.

On the cheaper side (don't have much experience myself)

Hostgator A2hosting

Whatever you do avoid:

Bluehost GoDaddy Hostinger

Now there are plenty of option beyond my lists but hopefully it helps.

**Hostgator is owned by EIG, who owns Bluehost HG is much slower, and less secure than BH. I wouldn't recommend them, they use an old, slow cPanel version, and also use anphp version which was discontinued in 2018 without an ability to change it.

A2 is very slow unless you get their more expensive plans. The support have confirmed to one of my friends that they slightly lied about the 20x faster, and it's actually just between their normal and turbo plans.
